Admin password not working if using external database

Gaurav Negi

Dear Harbor users,
Apologies for spanning. But I think there is a bug in harbor.
I am using harbor Version v1.9.4-49eb397c

1. I install a fresh new harbor on a new VM.
I put external database in AWS RDS, with my harbor.yml file looks like this

image.png

2. When I brought up the harbor (using sudo ./install.sh)
From UI, it is not accepting admin password.
Which I have put default "Harbor12345"
and I am seeing screen below.

image.png
3. But if I change it to local database.
and bring up harbor. It accepts admin password as "Harbor12345"

Can you please suggest? How can I use external database?
If using that, what will be the admin password?

Thanks
-Gaurav

Password not working for admin user after changing to external database.

Gaurav Negi

Dear Harbor experts,
1st I installed harbor using local database. and started it.
After that I changed harbor.yml file and added external_database for harbor made it point to RDS in AWS. And then started harbar.again.

Now admin user is not accepting the default password.

Any idea?

Thanks
-Gaurav

Once there are user records in the DB, you can’t switch the auth mode.

In a fresh install you can do the configuration

Re: Enterprise support for Harbor

Hi Harbor is an open source project under cncf so it does not come with enterprise support.  There are commercial flavors of Harbor on the market that come with enterprise support.  If you're interested in learning more, please ping me directly

Gathering data from Harbor API to parse for monitoring

shai.ben.naphtali@...

Hello,

With goharbor/harbor-core:v1.9.2 ; I want to utilize the API to collect stats and various data to later digest and setup monitoring.

I seem to either miss something or maybe I'm not seeing things for what they are, but I noticed that using the API is all or nothing. Meaning, I can't setup a user with Read Only permissions to just collect the data I want via the API.

The API requires authorization by users that, have admin permissions. This for me is a security risk that I can't commit to.

How do you go about setting up (if this is at all possible) a read-only user that has access to the various GET API endpoints?

Cheers,
Shai
