FYI: Summer of Code/Docs + CommunityBridge Project Ideas
The CNCF is participating in Summer of Code + CommunityBridge again: We have had a lot of success with these programs in the past, having interns/mentees become maintainers to help them land their first job in the cloud native community. To add a project, simply send a pull request and follow the template. If you have any questions, you can join the #mentoring channel on slack.cncf.io Thanks! Chris Aniszczyk (@cra) | +1-512-961-6719

Re: Migrating the CNCF calendar from PT to UTC?

It would be great if that was the norm.
Working in an international environment we always use UTC for any kind of coordination, and most is aware of their own current offset and can convert easily if their software doesn't do that for them.

Emne: [cncf-toc] Migrating the CNCF calendar from PT to UTC?
Dear all,
I am aware that this is not the best mailing list for this discussion, but I am not aware of a better one. Please feel free to redirect me, and this discussion. Currently the "CNCF Public Events" calendar is in PT. As summer/winter times move at different dates for US/EMEA, not at all for much of APAC and in the other direction for Australia, this is even more painful than "normal" daylight savings sheeningangs. As such, I would like to propose that the calendar is migrated from PT to UTC which does not have DST. Best, Richard

This was not about local display, it was about when the entry does, or does not, jump by an hour, wreaking havoc to all your other carefully-balanced calendar entries. UTC is least bad for a global world with different DST.

If this is on Google Calendar does it even matter since it uses user TZ and translates? UTC isn’t a choice on gcal, you are forced to pick some timezone even if it’s GMT+0.

+1, also from UTC it easier to calculate the time to local time (for people outside the US)I imported the calendar into both my work and private calendars, but didn't even consider the case of looking at it on its website. This is also a very valid point.
