Chris A:  do you think https://github.com/cncf/toc/issues/248 is a good issue to add on to?   I'm not if you intended for this to be specifically about FAQ as a format or generally to improve documentation / clarity on the process

In an effort to foster discussion and drive toward publishing a flowchart.  I translated Brendan's first draft into mermaid format (where flowcharts can be represented using markdown text and then rendered into graphics), then modified to add a bit more detail and adjust based on what I've observed and I've heard discussed

Proposed diagram: image, markdown (cncf/toc PR#321)
